Gold Medal for Daina!
Congratulations to Daina Moorehouse (Transition Year) who has won a gold medal at the European Youth Boxing Championships in Roseto degli Abruzzi, Italy. Daina dominated her Russian opponent, Kseniia Beschastnova, in the light-flyweight (48kg) division final, on Wednesday April 25th, and was awarded the win on a 4-1 majority decision.
Daina, who is the reigning European Junior Champion (2017), was a member of a 16-strong team of male and female boxers representing Ireland at the Championships. Along with Daina's gold, the team won a further three silver and two bronze medals.
Daina boxes with Enniskerry Boxing Club and was cheered on in Italy by her brother, Michael (6th Year) and parents, Melissa and John.
Everyone at St. Kilian's is immensely proud of Daina and her achievements and we all wish her continued success as she follows in Katie Taylor's footsteps towards world domination in her chosen sport!
