The school's inaugural Soundwaves music festival was held this week, May8th to 12th. The week's events were a showcase for the school's many talented students, as well as providing opportunities for masterclasses, recitals and collaborations with a host of local and national figures from across the music world. Many thanks to Ms Louise O'Sullivan for making this wonderful event such a tremendous success.

On Monday, May 8th, a group of fourteen senior students were audience guests on the Claire Byrne Live show on RTE1 television. It was a great experience of how live television programmes are put together. Thanks to Ms Tracey Brophy for all of her organising.

Bon Voyage to the group of fourteen St Kilian's CS students, accompanied by Mr Donohoe and Ms O'Shea, who will be visiting our twin school, Matthias-Grünewald-Gymnasium in Würzburg, Germany from April 21st until April 29th. This is the 32nd year of the exchange.

The school's gallant Under-17 Boys' Football team narrowly lost the FAI Leinster Schools Final to Balbriggan CC on a 2-1 scoreline, despite playing most of the game with just 10 men. Hard luck to the team and their manager, Mr Jenkins, but hearty congratulations to everyone, too, on a very successful year.

Last year, Megan O’Daly (6th Year) won the Leinster region of the Blackrock Education Centre’s 1916 poster contest, titled “What will Ireland look like in 2016?” The competition was held to mark the centenary of the Easter Rising of 1916. Her winning entry is now part of an exhibition at the National Gallery of Ireland on Merrion Square.

On January 24th, a group of St Kilian's top sportsmen and sportswomen had a memorable time at a Sky Sports Academy Day at Ireland's new National Sports Campus, where they were mentored by a host of Ireland's sporting heroes.

Congratulations to Colin Keogh (Leaving Cert 2007) who has made the 2017 Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Europe. Colin, who is a research engineer at UCD, was nominated for his work in the area of Science and Healthcare
