Denis McWatt R.I.P.
The Board of Management of St. Kilian’s Community extends its deepest sympathy to Celia, Paul, Andrew, Ray, Aidan and the extended McWatt family on the sad passing of your beloved Denis. R.I.P.
Denis was an extremely valued member of the St Kilian’s school community, and contributed greatly to the school’s development and ethos in his various roles, as an inspirational English teacher, a caring and attentive Year Head, and a very dedicated Deputy Principal. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of all things extra-curricular, including managing football teams. His great passion and love for hillwalking, was a gift he shared with many; one that continues to enrich and enhance their lives years later.
Denis was renowned and will forever be remembered for his positivity, boundless energy, generosity of spirit, commitment to inclusion and social justice, and his Christian values.
To his students, Mr. McWatt was a good-humoured, enthusiastic, encouraging, and dependable presence on their journey through secondary school.
To those lucky enough to call Denis a colleague, he was a supportive mentor and a loyal and much-loved friend.
As is evident from the many tributes paid to him in recent days, his legacy within the community of our school is assured, and his memory will live long.
Be assured that the thoughts and prayers of the school community are with you, Celia, and with all of the family at this time of immeasurable loss.
